Edmonique Murphy
for Shelby County Commissioner, District 8
"Rooted in Resilience. Driven by Purpose. Committed to Justice."
My name is Edmonique Murphy, and I’m running to be your next Shelby County Commissioner for District 8.
My journey—from surviving the displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina over 20 years ago to serving in the Shelby County and Memphis city justice systems—has prepared me to fight for what our community needs most: equity, accountability, and access. As a public servant, counselor, legal advocate, and founder of a faith-based coalition, I’ve seen firsthand how broken systems impact real people. I’ve also seen what’s possible when leaders listen, lead with purpose, and fight for change.
🎓 Educated. Experienced. Effective.
B.A. in Psychology & Criminal Justice, University of Memphis
Master of Legal Studies, University of Tennessee
Counselor – Shelby County Pretrial Services
Former Principal Court Clerk – Juvenile Court
Founder – Passion & Purpose: Publishing, Advocacy, Behavioral Health
I’m not running for a title. I’m running for results:
✅ Expanding mental health and youth services
✅ Advocating for criminal justice reform that’s smart and fair
✅ Supporting small businesses, local creatives, and job access
✅ Making sure our tax dollars work for our neighborhoods
This campaign is about us—District 8 residents who deserve to be heard, seen, and served with integrity.
🗣️ Let’s bring faith, fairness, and follow-through back into local leadership.
📍 Let’s build a District 8 that doesn’t just survive—but thrives.
Vote Murphy for County Commissioner, District 8.
Because Purpose Still Matters.
